Overview

Beautiful stylish results are important when coating furniture. The Sayerlack Hydroplus waterbased range can be used to produce finishes that are indistinguishable in quality, strength and chemical resistance as two-pack polyurethane finishes. Sayerlack is at the forefront of waterbased technology that is conscientious about the wellbeing of people and the environment. AF72 is a range of one-pack, high-build, waterborne, self-sealing lacquers designed for interior joinery on doors, stairs and other vertical substrates ensuring good hardness, chemical resistance, thermoplasticity and smoothness to the touch. It has been tested and performs to FIRA 6250 severe use rating for abrasion resistance.

Its has a high transparency, vertical hold and excellent sanding. It's the ideal product for doors and vertical wooden components. It can be sprayed using a conventional gun, air mix system, airless system and electrostatic spray guns. It can be used as a self sealer or as a topcoat underneath one of the basecoats from the Hydroplus range. It comes ready to use and can be crosslinked with 2% of XA4080 for a more durable chemical resistant finish, 3% of XA4095 for and double crosslink and thinned using water if necessary.

Usage

PREPARATION

We suggest 240-280 grit sand papers for sanding the first coat. For best results, use stearate sandpaper, which provide much higher efficiency than conventional sand paper. Please see our SIA Abrasives pages for specific papers for waterborne products.

APPLICATION

AF72 can be applied alone or as a topcoat onto the waterborne basecoats for interiors from the Sayerlack Hydroplus range. Due to the way the material is formulated it is particularly suitable as a two-coat system for open pore. AF72 may also be tinted with small quantities of waterbased stains from the AC0600 or AC1810 systems for more colour depth in the finish. It is stackable after 24 hours from an application of 100g/m, in good drying conditions and with air circulation (at 20°C and with 65% of relative humidity). Under these circumstances, it's sandable after 4 hours. Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity will incur a longer drying time.

AFTER CARE

Due to the high chemical resistance of Waterbased Topcoats, the packaging used does not usually cause problems. We recommend high-density polythene. PVC or Pluriball are not suitable.

ALTERNATIVE HARDENERS/THINNERS

When used for industrial coating systems, we suggest the use of the hardener and the addition of 1% of XA4080/00 to speed up stacking times.
