Usage

PREPARATION

For best results, we suggest preparing the surface using 240-320 grit stearate abrasives as they provide a higher efficiency than conventional. Ensure the surface is completely clean of dust and debris before coating.

Stain with XM8000/XX series only.

Exotic timbers, such us Rosewood, Teak, Mansonia and Walnut must be protected with TH1400/00 and TR5008/00 or TR4027/00 and XT4028/00 barriers.

For other types of non-exotic but particularly porous timbers, use TU0565/00 and TH0765/00.

With Maple or reconstituted veneers, use XT4022/00, as this does not affect the colour and wets the wood pores.

APPLICATION

Closed pore or semi-closed pore can be achieved with just 2 coats of 250 g/m² each with an interval of 12 hours in between, in good drying conditions and with air circulation (at 20°C and with 65% of relative humidity). Under these circumstances, it is sandable after 12 hours. Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity will incur a longer drying time.

AFTER CARE

PUL7946/00 basecoat can be over coated with any of the high gloss topcoats like TLL3097/00.

OTHER

It is important to understand when using a Polyester Coating to check whether your full system is appropriate. IWC are able to advise you on spray equipment and materials to achieve the perfect finish. Please click the contact us button for advice.

Accelerator for polyester are heavy metal salts and could give place to spontaneous combustion. For this reason, they must be handled with care and not to be mixed directly with peroxides of PH0999/00 in order to avoid a strong exothermic and explosive reaction.
